10 Biggest Shopping Malls in the World

Not in Asia, where land is cheap and labor costs is low. A building boom has been observed as shopping malls popping up in China, Malaysia and the Philippines, with India expected to jump into the fold soon. Based on gross leasable area, or the amount of space devoted to revenue-producing operations like stores, amusements and food, the continent is home to nine of the world’s 10 largest malls, six of which have been built since 2004.

So here are some of the biggest shopping malls in the world. I hope you will love to shop in one of those.

South China Mall, China

In the Chinese mall arms race, this facility opened a year after the Golden Resources Mall to displace it as the countries and the worlds largest. The space includes wind mills and theme parks, plus a replica of the Arc de Triomphe. It was open in 2005 and has an area of 7.1 million sq ft.

The Most Beautiful Girl in Universe

No, she’s not Diana Hayden nor is she Sushmita Sen,
Not even Aishwarya Rai, Who is this girl then?

No, she does not flash her legs nor walk down the aisle semi-nude
For her such things are unthinkable, sacrilegious and downright rude

Miss World, Miss Universe, Miss “Anything”, She does not aspire to be
She shuns all kinds of publicity in privacy she would rather be

Never in a swimming costume will she for a camera pose
Yes, she’s the ‘girl in hijaab’ more beautiful than a rose!

Those who’re ’stripped’ of modesty will ’strip’ for any cause
Whether on a lonely beach or in front of a full house

In their naked greed they dance In pursuit of earth’s glory
Is there a thing more vulgar than a woman devoid of modesty?

In the name of freedom all moral values are now defined
Vulgarity, nudism, nakedness are steps to fame that wind

Those who are of rotten minds call it freedom of “female” species
Yet, they exploit them a-plenty, whenever and wherever they please.

To Shave or Not to Shave, that is the Question

An event was to be held on the 30th of March 2010 at Hall 6 of Expo Center Karachi, to break India’s world record of most people shaving at the same time. The event was being sponsored by Gillette, a reputed shaving company, the event was advertised well & over 2000 people showed up at the venue on their own free will, voluntarily, to be part of the smooth shavng spree.

The Organizing committee started receiving threats a couple of days leading to the event by Maulana Fazl ur Rehman & his cronies who called upon them to shutdown or face the consequences. The Maulana is said to have threatened to send a truck load of Madaressah boys to take care of the world record attempt. The organizers contacted Rangers for security and support who declined to help because they could only be deployed at the request of governmental approval, in turn the organizers resorted to coordinating their security cordon with the local police station who promised support.

The Bomb disposal squad checked and cleared the premises before noon. Entrance to the Expo center for the participants volunteers was on high protocol clearance and each person was carefully frisked and walked through metal detectors. After which each volunteer was registered at the reception desk and provided with a shaving kit.

Shoaib and Shania: What you have Unleashed!!

Am I the only one? (I hope not) Who has been disgusted by not only the overzealous coverage of the whole Shoaib Malik – Sania Mirza marriage? On the one hand it’s a brief and much needed distraction from all the pointless violence and even more pointless and unexplainable lack of governance that we have to watch parade before us on our television screens. On the other hand it’s also quite sad to see some of the actions and reactions of certain individuals. The army of politicians, personalities and well wishers all seem to be nothing more than opportunists trying to jump on the media dubbed, “Shania” bandwagon.

A piece in The News says “love would finally prevail no matter what the enemies did”. I wish the same PML-N protestors would show such support of all those young couple who marry out of choice and then have to face the spectre of banishment by their own family at best, or worse declared Kari and hunted down and murdered.

Intolerance in The Name of Religion

After Lahore blast, people will give you different reasons for the blasts; they will say that it is Pakistan and America’s fault; America and Pakistan trained these people earlier to fight against Soviets, and now they have turned against both; they will say these people have nothing to do with Islam, and Islam is a peaceful religion; they will say these people do not represent Islam. May be it is true. But somehow, somewhere religion is involved, and one can not deny that–hence, these savage killers believe that they are just about to meet 71 virgins after committing mass murder. They are doing all this in the name of God, the most compassionate, the most merciful; whether with his approval or without.

It is not just one particular religion, most religious people, whether belonging to Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism or Islam, are different from people, who let’s say have very casual attitude towards religion or do not believe in God at all. Here in USA, I have personally experienced, the more religious a person is, it is more likely that person would hate certain “others”. In the case of Christian religious fanatics in USA, they have long list of people whom they hate, but these days mainly Muslims.

Future of Punjabians

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was sent to live with a Bedouin family soon after his birth; Bedouins were thought to be the pure speaker of Arabic language, while people living in urban center of Mecca were considered too cosmopolitan, and it was felt that language spoken in Mecca was corrupted. It is astonishing how much the ancient Arabs cared about the pureness of their language, and the effort they put into their kids learning the pure form of language.

If we look into the situation of present day Punjabi, it is facing similar sort of problem. The only people who truly speak close to genuinely pure Punjabi are the ones mostly residing in the rural areas of the Province. If you belong to cosmopolitan city of Lahore, it is very likely that either you don’t speak the language at all–even if you do speak it, it is corrupted. The requirement to speaking pure Punjabi is that you should have no education whatsoever. This is because all the education is either in Urdu or English. As literacy increases further, the future of Punjabi becomes doubtful.
